Job Description

The position consists of accessioning specimen and outside slides, label cases and cassettes for grosser, equipment maintenance and keep logs. Communicating with referring providers, and laboratory staff.

Position: Full Time, Monday thru Friday. or Sunday -Thursday, 5:30pm-2:00AM, Flexibility in hours when needed

Responsibilities:  

• Ensure accuracy of samples received in the histology department.
• Prepare specimens/cases sent to referral laboratories.
• Pre-sorting, scanning, tracking, and routing of samples in the laboratory information system
• Verify the accuracy of data before it is entered into the laboratory information system.
• Maintain proper and complete records of all testing performed during the shift.
• Label cases and write cassettes for Grosser.
• File paraffin blocks.
• Communicating with referring providers, and laboratory staff.
• Follow federal, state, local and organizational guidelines, and policies with regards to CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA
