JOB TITLE: School Counselor (HIGH)
SCHEDULE: Full-time and Part-time positions available
REPORTS TO: Principal
DEFINITION : Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, school counselors promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. Provides advice and guidance to students, school administrators, staff, parents and community members. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in school counseling.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate with School Counselor endorsement.
OR
Education, Training, and Experience:
Education, training, and experience as required by the Maryland Pathway to Initial Licensure for School Counselor.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Professional License and School Counselor Licensure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of school counseling. Knowledge of curriculum. Knowledge of effective instructional techniques. Knowledge of instructional materials and equipment. Knowledge of the ASCA National Model. Knowledge of and skill in data analysis.
Demonstration of outstanding written and oral communication skills. Demonstration of strong leadership and human relations skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Requires attendance at after-school and evening meetings and events.
Persons in this position classification that hold a clinical license will be required to apply for a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number with the National Plan & Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) and enroll as a Maryland Medicaid Provider through the Maryland Department of Health’s Provider Revalidation and Enrollment Portal (ePREP).
GRADE: TABCO 10-month pay scale
SALARY: $63,490 - $119,522
OTHER COMPENSATION: Position may be eligible for relocation bonus, extra duty activities pay, or other student activities pay as defined in the applicable Bargaining Unit Agreement.
FLSA: Exempt
RETIREMENT: Eligible for the Maryland State Retirement System.
