Job Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position providing care to cardiac and surgical patients with every other weekend and floating requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 40-bed Cardiac Telemetry Unit (CTU) within a hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes medical cardiology, heart and lung surgery, and vascular surgery patients
• Patient acuity includes step-down critical care cases
• Nurse to patient ratios: Days 3-4, evenings 4, nights 5
• Use of electronic charting, Pyxis, IV Alaris pumps, bar code med scanning, temporary pacers, wound vacs, PCA, epidurals, and chest tubes
• Required to work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend scheduled
• No on-call required
• Floating required within the critical care cluster (MSICU, MSIMC, CICU) and occasionally to med-surg areas (MAP, OCU, PCU, PSCU)
• Potential to float to other facilities in the Central Region (Wausau, Merrill, Langlade)
• Responsibilities include assessments, medication administration, EKG interpretation, and dressing changes
• Orientation includes one 12-hour day in the department, learning lab, mini-hospital orientation, and Epic training
• Scrubs required as dress code
• May be required to provide coverage at affiliated regional facilities
• First-time travelers are considered

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years recent telemetry experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with electronic charting systems and Epic preferred
• Ability to interpret basic EKGs and manage temporary pacers and wound vacs
